Obituary

Diana Mae Jones, 70, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at her home.

Born October 18, 1949 in Portageville, Missouri, she was the daughter of James Andrew and Nellie Virginia (Brake) Mashburn. She was raised and received her education in Portageville. Diana married Johnnie Herman Jones, Sr. on March 5, 1969. To this union, four children were born. The couple later divorced, however they remained friends.

In addition to being a homemaker for many years, Diana worked many jobs including babysitting, and gathering eggs and pulling chickens for a chicken farm. In 1987, she began her career as a CNA, working for the Anthony Hospital until retiring in 1998.

She was a member of Millington Street Baptist Church in Winfield. She enjoyed playing bingo, sewing, working puzzles, reading, watching cooking programs, and attending family gatherings.

Her family includes her sons, Johnnie Herman Jones, Jr. of Harper; James Noel Jones of Wellington; her daughters, Donna Ann Jeager and husband, Joshua of Winfield; Dana Michelle Abbott of Doniphan, MO; her brothers, Barry Keith Mashburn and wife, Kimberly of Wellington; Gary Eugine Mashburn and wife, Janice of Oklahoma; Joseph Allen Mashburn of Wellington; her sisters, Carolyn Elaine Wiley of Wellington; Debra Gail Sylvia of Wellington; her grandchildren, Amaylee Jeager, Olivia Jeager, Hope Michelle Prince, Patience LeAnn Corley, Jamie Lynn Prince, Ashly Ribordy, Johnathan Jones, Jason Jones, Jillian Jones, Jaden Jones, Destiney Jones, Stormie Jones, Bradley Jones, Courtney Jones, Zyler Jones, Brycen Jones, Charles Abbott, Jeremy Abbott, Fredrick Abbott; her great grandchildren, Sean, Willow, Aaron, Laine, Fabian, Coner, Kloe, Lily, Carter, Jace, Aiden, Karter, and Astella; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by 3 brothers, James Donald Mashburn, Howard Ray Mashburn, Ronald Mashburn, a sister, Doris Fleming, and a son-in-law, Charles Abbott.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Millington Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Harper Cemetery in Harper, Kansas. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors during this time.

A memorial has been established in Diana's name for Millington Street Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
