Denzil L. Conrad, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, died Sunday afternoon, August 30, 2015 at his home.
Born December 23, 1923 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Cecil L. and Elvia B. (Snow) Conrad. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1942. He joined the United States Army in 1943. He served with the OSS (special forces) in the European Theatre. He was honorably discharged in April of 1946.
Denzil was united in marriage to Peggy Davis on June 11, 1946 in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield, where Denzil owned and operated Conrad Body Shop for several years. He was later employed by the Winfield School District as Transportation Director for 15 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion in Winfield.

His great grandchildren: Andrynn, Abbiah, Samantha, Eden, Rebecca, Staci, Stephanie, Maddalyn, Xander, Adam, and one to be born in February 2016.
In addition to his parents, Denzil was preceded in death by his grandparents, his favorite aunt, and his granddaughter, Cathy.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 4, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Thursday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
A Memorial has been established in Denzil's name for Rivercross Hospice . Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
