Delwin Lorraine Smith, 77, formerly of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2013 at his home in Wichita.
Born August 16, 1935 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Alvin and Arceola (Bourland) Smith. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School. He later attended Arkansas City Juco in Arkansas City, Kansas, and Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. After school he joined the United States Army where he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Winfield where he began working at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. In the early 1970's Delwin moved to Wichita, and continued working at Boeing, where he remained for over 35 years, until retiring in 1992 as a Paint Shop Supervisor. He married Marian Lois Loud, to this union three children were born. He later married Frances Willis, and to this union two children were born.
He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Winfield, and American Legion in Wichita. He enjoyed fishing, basketball, football, golf, and was an old car mechanic.

His grandchildren: Willie Smith; Navida Speck; TiKola Brown; JC Smith; Gavin Smith; Terasea Loggins, Geontae Washington;
His great grandchildren: Kimkia Smith; Kimaryonna Smith; Hudson Speck; and
Many nieces.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, May 28, 2013 from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors that evening.
