Deloris "Diane" Kill, 65, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, December 7, 2021, at her home.
Born June 19, 1956, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, she was the daughter of Rosco and Lorene (McGuire) Mahan. She was raised and received her education in Rocky Ford, graduating from Rocky Ford High School in 1975. As a young woman, she worked as a waitress at Peggy's and at High Chaparral.
In December of 1978, she was united in marriage to Fred A. Kill in Scott City, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Scott City where Diane worked as a waitress. In 1980, the family moved to Burlington, Wyoming. Diane worked at the local country store while taking care of her family. The family later moved to Burden, Kansas where she worked as a bus driver. Fred preceded her in death on December 4, 1999.
Diane moved to Winfield and worked as a Para Educator for USD 465 Special Coop. During this time, Diane also worked as a waitress at Bricks in Arkansas City for over 20 years. In 2021, she retired from the school district and Bricks. Diane enjoyed crafting, sewing, and working in her flower garden.
Her family includes her sons, Michael Stephen Kill and La-Tisha Smalley of Eureka; Frank Learoy Kill and wife, Megan of Winfield; her daughters, Kathryn Dawn Brogan and husband, Todd of Winfield; Tammy Nicole Kill and Chuck Miller of Arkansas City; her step-children, Bud Kill and wife, Erin of Longton; Stephanie Kill of Longton; Ricky Kill and wife, Carrie of Howard; her grandchildren, Brooke, Haley, Michael, Chet, Bodhi, Dominik, Dain, Dash, Davin, Georgia, Jacqueline, James, Hannah, Brett, Elizabeth, Spencer, Emma, Madison, McKinize, Callie, Katrina, and Ashley; and her great grandchildren, Lorelia, Wren, Sullivan, and Jack.
In addition to her parents and husband, Diane was preceded in death by a daughter Melissa Sandy and a stepson Mac Kill.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 13, 2021, at Miles Funeral Service. Inurnment will follow at New Salem Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 3 P.M.
A memorial has been established in Diane's name for the USD 465 Special Education Coop. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
