Obituary

Delores F. "Dee" Johnson, 92, of Winfield, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Winfield Senior Living Community.

She was born September 14, 1928 in Latham to Earl and Ima (Kennedy) Wallace.  She attended the Latham school.

Delores was united in marriage to Alvin L. Johnson on December 24, 1945 in Winfield.  The couple made their home in Winfield for a time and later moved to Wichita where she worked at Mr. Dee's IGA and at Cessna as a supervisor before being transferred to Strother Field.  After retiring from Cessna, she managed Walnut Towers in Winfield followed by Windsor Court Apartments in Arkansas City. She also was a grandma for the USD 470 School District.

Delores became a Christian on March 4, 1977. She was a member of the Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church. Delores enjoyed studying her Bible, reading a good book and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. She and Alvin enjoyed fishing and building things that would supplement their income.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Tisdale and husband, Joe of Gardner; her grandchildren, Kerry and Bruce Egleston of Colorado Springs, CO; Kym and Rick Metcalf of Centennial, CO; Kevin and Candi Gooch of Salida, CO; Scott and Lenore Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; Keith Gooch of Olathe; 11 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandkids; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Nita Wallace of Bella Vista, AR; a sister and brother-in-law, Dollie Hutto and Bill Rosecrans of Winfield; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Wallace of Augusta; and a brother-in-law, Gunther Purins of Georgia.

In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin on May 4, 1996.  She is also preceded in death by her son, Michael Johnson; and six siblings: Laura Bence Kampschroder; Luetta Starkey; Raymond Wallace; Leroy Wallace; Lewis Wallace; and Lydia Purins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 30, 2021 at Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church in Arkansas City.  Interment will follow at Wilmot Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.

A memorial has been established in Delores' name for Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
