King Kennedy

Delia Fay King Kennedy, 85, of Winfield, KS, passed away Saturday morning June 13, 2020 in Wichita, KS.
Born on Thanksgiving Day, November 29, 1934 in Uvalde, TX. She was the daughter of Alta King Kennedy, the youngest of 6 children. She received her education in West Texas, moving with the family to Winfield, KS in October of 1944. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1954, before moving near her grandparents in Enid, OK. There she worked as a Telephone operator at Southwestern Bell before returning to Winfield in 1956.
On February 2, 1957 she married Otis Kennedy making their home in the Prairie View community west of Atlanta, KS, before retiring to Winfield in 2001. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary earlier this year.
Delia took pride in farm life as well as raising and supporting her sons, Kirk & Troy through school, 4H projects, basketball and numerous other activities. She fondly remembered past family vacations and other travels.
Sewing, crafts, baking were just some of her hobbies - a good day for Delia was going to garage sales and then spending time at Island Park. She was a member of the Christian Crafters, the William Newton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the Prairie View Methodist Church.
Delia loved her family and looked forward to any gathering with extended relatives. She especially enjoyed having her grandchildren grow up on the family farm.
She was proceeded in death by her mother, and siblings Lou, Berwin, Bob, Dan & David.
Surviving Delia is her husband Otis of the home in Winfield, KS. Her sons: Kirk (Nancy) Kennedy of rural Atlanta, KS, and Troy (Kathy) Kennedy of Oxford, KS. Her Grandchildren: Alan Kennedy, of Wichita, KS, Jeremy Kennedy, of Moore, OK, Katrina Kennedy, of Winfield, KS, Mauryn Kennedy, of Lawrence, KS, Elizabeth (Guillermo) Botello, of Houston, TX, and Ben Donals of Wichita. 4 Great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, KS. Burial will follow at Wilmot Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 4 to 8 P.M., with the family greeting from 5 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made in Delia's name for Joseph's Storehouse, Burden, KS, or for Winfield Public Library for large print books. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
