Delbert Wayne Jarboe, 73, of Cedar Vale, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at his home.
Born August 14, 1947 in Arkansas City, Kansas, he was the son of Albert Arthur and Juanita M. (Russell) Jarboe. He was raised and received his education in Cedar Vale, graduating from Cedar Vale High School in 1967. Following high school, Delbert joined the United States Army and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. After serving in the Army, he returned to Cedar Vale and began helping his father on the family farm.
Delbert was united in marriage to Sharon "Jean" Bridges on May 29, 1982 in Cedar Vale. The couple made their home in Cedar Vale and in addition to farming with his father, Delbert worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Groendyke Transport, Bray's Trucking, and Frank Bills Trucking. Delbert and Jean moved to their farm west of Cedar Vale in 1993. In 1988, he began working for Rubbermaid in Winfield where he remained until retiring in 2008. Delbert enjoyed farming, working with his cattle and sheep, and overseeing road maintenance for Otter Creek Township as a board member.
His family includes his wife Jean Jarboe of Cedar Vale; his children, Brandtn Jarboe and wife, Melanie of Lampasas, TX; TC Jarboe of Derby; Gynger Jarboe of Owensboro, KY; Gunile Haroual and husband, Ali of South Korea; Charissa Gail of Wichita; his grandchildren, Sarah, Tucker, Stockton, Olivia, Owen, Nicole, Nura, Aya; and his great granddaughter Denver.
In addition to his parents, Delbert was preceded in death by his two brothers, Glen Jarboe and Leonard Jarboe.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Cedar Vale. Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Delbert's name for Harry Hynes Hospice and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
