Obituary

Deborah Fay "Debbie" Williams, 60, of Arkansas City, Kansas, went to her Eternal Resting Home, on Monday, October 24, 2022.

Born April 15, 1962, in Wellington, Kansas, she was the daughter of Ramon David "R.D." and Velma (Keahey) Williams. She was raised in Atlanta, receiving her education in Atlanta and Burden. She graduated from Burden High School in 1980. She then attended Cowley County Community College and graduated in 1982. Debbie then attended Oklahoma Baptist University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984. She played softball and volleyball on scholarship while at Cowley College and at OBU.

She began her career as a Speech Therapist at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center, where she remained until its closing in 1998. Debbie then continued as a Speech Therapist for Reach, retiring in 2019. After retirement, she worked as a Paraeducator at the Community Day School in Arkansas City. Debbie had a passion for children, serving as a Foster Mom for over 20 years, a cause she dedicated her life to.

She enjoyed playing softball, photography, painting, sewing, and knitting. She also enjoyed her time as a coach, coaching her family in youth sports, as well coaching basketball, volleyball, softball, and baseball at the high school level. Debbie served as a volleyball official for the Kansas State High School Athletic Association, as well as serving as Boy Scout leader for many years.

Her family includes her children, Sammi Williams of Rose Hill; Marisa Williams of Wichita; Richie Williams of Arkansas City; Treva Williams of Arkansas City; Anthony Williams of Arkansas City; her mother Velma Williams of Atlanta; her siblings, Royce Williams and wife, Toni of Winfield; Sandra Williams of Atlanta; Cheryl White and husband, Dr. Robert White of Powell, WY; her grandchildren, Maliyah Storts and River An Orr; her nephews, Tyler Williams, Chad Williams, Austin Williams, Sawyer Williams; and her nieces, Lexi Kidd, Rylee White, and Hannah Smith.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father R.D. Williams and brothers, Michael and Mark Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Littleton Cemetery in Mulvane. A visitation is scheduled on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
The Debbie Williams Memorial Fund has been established at RCB Bank for the benefit of her children. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
