Dean Edward DeCoudres, 85, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, August 5, 2023 at his home.
Born August 15, 1937 in Cherryvale, Kansas, he was the son of Louis Edward and Ethel (Harmon) DeCoudres. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1956. While in school, Dean worked at Bill Flower's gas station, and after school worked at Boeing AirCraft for a short time. In May of 1963, he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country as a Military Police while stationed in Germany. After his honorable discharge he returned to Winfield.
He was united in marriage to Jacqueline Yarbrough on September 24, 1966 in Atlanta, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield their entire married life, where they were members of the First Church of the Nazarene. In 1973 they started DeCoudres Oil, and Dean worked distributing bulk fuel. In addition to operating the Oil company, he ran WD Casing from 1981 to 1984, and in 1986 he started Wagon Wheel Trucking. Dean continued running the family's businesses until his retirement in 2018.
Dean is survived by his wife Jackie of Winfield; his children, Greg DeCoudres of Winfield; Mark DeCoudres and wife, Pennie of Winfield; Gina DeCoudres and fiance, Robert Dunlap of Winfield; Brent DeCoudres of Winfield; and Trent DeCoudres and wife, Maci of Winfield; his grandchildren, Jeremy DeCoudres of Winfield; Monica Shelden and husband, Ron of Winfield; Tiffany Archer and husband, Troy of Winfield; Derrick Greenlee and wife, Emily of Fairfield, OH; Ethan Greenlee of Branson, MO; Conner Greenlee of Winfield; Hallee DeCoudres of Winfield; Kinzi DeCoudres of Winfield; Ashlyn DeCoudres of Copan, OK; and his great grandchildren, Tayton, Hunter, Gage, Tinley, Esther, Joseph, and Samuel. Dean was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 11, 2023 at First Church of the Nazarene in Winfield. Interment with Military Committal Honors will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled on Thursday evening from 4 to 8 at Miles Funeral Service. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Dean's name for the First Church of the Nazarene. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
