Daymond Wayne Chattam, 64, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, formerly of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, August 9, 2019.
Born October 12, 1954 in Winfield, he was the son of Bobbie Eugene and Martha Ann (Shea) Chattam. He was raised and received his early education in Winfield before moving to Hutchinson, Kansas in the fourth grade. He attended Hutchinson High School. After school, he returned to Winfield and began to work for Shea Roofing.
On July 19, 1976, Daymond was united in marriage to Debbie Agoitia in Hutchinson. The couple made their first home in Winfield where Daymond continued working with his grandfather at Shea Roofing. He eventually took over the business from his grandfather and renamed it Chattam Roofing. Debbie and Daymond had two children and later divorced but remained friends.
Daymond continued running his roofing business until retiring in 2011. After retirement, he stayed busy working as a handyman and helping contractors. He also worked for a short time as an electrician for R&S Electric. In 2013, he moved to Tulsa to be near his daughter. He enjoyed being outside, yardwork, fixing things, watching westerns and sports, especially football and nascar. He also enjoyed taking their dogs for walks at the park.
His family includes his daughter Maria Chattam and Alex Espinoza of Tulsa, OK; his sisters, Deatra Renner of Hutchinson; Delese Runyan and husband, Virgil of Hutchinson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Daymond was preceded in death by his son Joshua Tate Chattam.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Inurnment will follow at Tisdale Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Daymond's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
