Obituary

DAVID L. WALKER, 76, of Pittsburg, Kansas, and formerly of Udall, Kansas, passed away Sunday evening, May 3, 2009 at the Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg.

Born on July 11, 1932 in Duquoin, Kansas, he was the son of Ralph and Edith (Enlow) Walker.

Mr. Walker proudly served his country in the United States Army as a corporal from 1953 to 1955. David had lived in Ely, Nevada where he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Kennicott Copper. He later moved to Udall, Kansas where he resided for 20 years. He worked at Coleman for a short time and later at Boeing where he retired in the mid 1990's. Following retirement, he moved to Pittsburg where he had resided until his death. David's biggest pleasure was fishing.

His family includes:
His sons: Brian Walker and wife Myra of Bonney Lake, WA; and Jim Walker of Rock, KS;
His sisters: Lorraine Laurie of Mulvane, KS; and Juanita Young of Salt Lake City, UT;
His 4 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 1 great-grandchild and 3 step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Walker; and his brother, Daniel Walker.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Military committal honors will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Monday, May 11, 2009. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
