David E. Schuetz, 72, of Monett, Missouri, passed away Friday morning, February 24, 2023, at Alderbrook Village in Arkansas City.

Born November 18, 1950 in Mount Vernon, Illinois, he was the son of William "Bill" and Billie Schuetz. He was raised and received his education in Monett, Missouri, graduating from Monett High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy on February 10, 1969. He was an Electrician's Mate and received an honorable discharge on July 21, 1971.

He was married to Kathryn, and to this union, two sons, David and Dustin were born. The couple later divorced. David worked as an over the road truck driver for various companies.

He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. David never met a stranger and he knew a little about everything. He loved his parents and his children.

His family includes his children, David Schuetz of Wichita; Dustin Schuetz and wife, Lori of Arkansas City; Amy Barrientos and husband, Hector of Monett, MO; his eight grandchildren; and his K-9 companion and best friend Buffy.

In addition to his parents, Bill and Billie, David was preceded in death by his sister Susan.

Memorial services will be held in Monett, Missouri. Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas is in charge of local arrangements.

A memorial has been established in David's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
