David Wayne DeHamer, 59, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at William Newton Hospital.

Born October 27, 1964, in Wichita, Kansas, David lived most of his life in the Wichita and Winfield area but was able to have many adventures throughout the Midwest.

David worked many careers over his life but most recently was performing home health care as a CCNA.

He enjoyed reading, watching TV, spending time with family, and collecting swords.  David was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and spent many years helping aged people live their best lives at various retirement homes around Winfield.  One of the most unique things about David was his ability to command attention with his exuberance and good cheer.

His family includes his mother Linda Stewart and husband, Bob of Winfield; his siblings, Dorinda Alberts of Wichita; Don DeHamer of Melbourne, FL; Cathy Stewart of Winfield; Tom Stewart and wife, Heather of Wichita; Linda May Stewart of Wichita; his father Jack DeHamer and wife, Betty of Moline, IL; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cowley County Humane Society, as David felt great love and sincere affection for animals of all types.  Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.

The family will hold private memorial services at a later date per David's request.  Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
