David Lee Brothers, 69, of Winfield, Kansas passed away Friday evening, June 17, 2016 at William Newton Hospital.
Born July 26, 1946 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Jay and Vera (Dowler) Brothers. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School. He then attended Kansas State University and obtained his Master's Degree in Agriculture. David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Toni Carter in 1986. To this union, a daughter, Kellie, was born. The couple later divorced.
He worked as a teacher for a few years, teaching FFA and Agriculture. He later worked at the Winfield State Hospital & Training Center in procurement.
David was a member of the National Livestock Judging Team and FFA. He enjoyed exhibiting animals over the years and studying their genealogy. He loved to travel and farm and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

His daughter: Kellie Brothers and partner, Marissa of Wichita;
His grandchildren: Madilyn and Brody Bratcher; and
His brothers: John Brothers and wife, Jennifer of Burden; DeVere Brothers and wife, JoLynn of Burden.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Burial and Military Committal Honors will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in David's name for his grandchildren's education fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
