Davey Michael Baalmann, 64, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 14, 2018 at Wesley Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born December 16, 1953 in Stewart, Florida, he was the son of Edwin and Joyce (O'Connor) Baalmann. He was raised and received his education in Udall, Kansas, graduating from Udall High School in 1973.

Davey began working for Cessna in Wichita following school and remained there until 1978 when he moved to San Francisco, California. While in California he attended and graduated from college with a degree in Information Technology. He began his career in computer programming while in California a career he enjoyed until retiring in 1993. After retiring he moved to Wichita, Kansas to be near his family.

He enjoyed gardening, camping, shopping, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

His family includes his parents Edwin and Joyce Baalmann of Winfield; his sisters Carmen Marsh of Wichita; Lori Christian and husband, Robert of Wichita; Toni Baalmann and Royce Williams of Oxford; his nieces and nephews Stephanie; Sarah; Derek and wife, LeDonna; Kent and wife, Kelly; Austin; Lucas; Hannah; Tyler; and Chad and wife, Amber; his great nieces and nephews Emily, Jake, Bentley, Caden, Braelynn, Kenzli, Ava, and Eilonwy; a host of beloved lifetime friends; and his pets Fifi, Katie, and Lillie.

Davey was preceded in death by his life partner, Johnny.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Winfield. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 to 7. The family will greet visitors during this time.

Memorials have been established in Davey's name for the American Diabetes Association and for the Kansas Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
