Obituary

Darrell Bradley McClung, 74, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 3, 2022, at his home.

Born September 28, 1947, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, he was the son of Harve and Helen (Adams) McClung.  Darrell was raised and received his education all over the world as the son of an airman, spending time in Germany and Roswell, New Mexico.  The family moved to Burlington, Kansas, where Darrell graduated high school in 1965.  Following high school, Darrell continued his studies at Cowley County Community College. In 1966 he began his career at General Electric at Strother Field.

Darrell was united in marriage to Melva J. Siever on September 5, 1970, at the First Baptist Church in Oxford.  The couple made their home in Oxford.  To this union, two sons were born, Kevin and Kyle, and later divorced in 1980.  Darrell continued working for GE Aircraft Engines in Strother Field for over 37 years, retiring as a supervisor in 2003.

He enjoyed photography, riding motorcycles, shooting guns, flying drones, traveling, and caring for animals.  Darrell had many unique pets including a deer, sparrow hawk, rabbit, peacocks, and an opossum.

Darrell's family includes his sons, Kevin McClung and wife, Anna of Winfield; Kyle McClung and wife, Krystal of Burden; his grandchildren, Noah McClung of Burden; Jessie McClung of Burden; Spencer McClung of Winfield; Tavener McClung and fiance, Monica McCann of Winfield; Olivia McClung of Winfield; and Kostner McClung of Winfield; and his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his sister Denise Cleckler.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 6, 2022, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.  Per Darrell's request, his ashes will be spread at the family farm at a later date.
