June 4, 1947 – December 31, 2020
Darrell W. Hotchkin, 73, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, December 31, 2020 at Winfield Senior Living.
Born June 4, 1947 in Winfield, he was the son of Donald and Shirley (Snook) Hotchkin. He was raised and received his education in Winfield.
Darrell was united in marriage to Phyllis Weinrich on September 21, 1963 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where Darrell worked for Davis Floral. In 1977, the couple purchased Davis Floral and operated the shop until 1983. In 1991, they moved to Burden, Kansas, where they remained until moving to Winfield Senior Living. While living in Burden, Darrell worked for Shuster's Lawn & Garden, and later in the maintenance department for the City of Burden. He retired in 2012.
Darrell was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed working in the yard, woodcarving, and spending time with his kids. Darrell devoted his life to his family, most of all, his wife and teenage sweetheart, Phyllis who preceded him in death on December 22, 2020.
His family includes his son Kris Hotchkin and wife, Arlene of Burden; his daughter Terresa Stewart and husband, Larry of Burden; his brother Steve Hotchkin of Arkansas City; his grandchildren, Lynnda Pappan, Kris Hotchkin, Jr., Joann Martin, Dustin Orr, Tim Hotchkin, Sarah George, Christopher Owens, Chad Moya, LeaAnn Moya; and his 19 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Darrell was preceded in death by a grandson Joshua Orr, two granddaughters, Megan and Jennifer Hotchkin, and three brothers, Donald Johnson, Randy Hotchkin, and Kris Hotchkin.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon, January 5, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4 to 6 P.M. The family will greet during this time.
A memorial has been established in Darrell's name for the Winfield Senior Living Activities Department. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
