DARLENE LUCILLE MEECE, 75, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Monday afternoon, May 19, 2008 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover.
Born on October 30, 1932 in Portland, Kansas, she was the daughter of Raymond Merritt "R.M." and Pearl Marie (Supernaw) Deets. She was raised and educated in Dexter graduating from Dexter High School.
She married Kenneth Meece right out of high school in Oxford, Kansas. The couple lived in Wichita and Kansas City, and then Las Vegas, Nevada for over 40 years. Mr. Meece preceded her in death in 1985. Darlene moved back to the Burden area in 2002.
Darlene was a homemaker. She and Kenneth were members of the Moose Lodge. She was an avid sports participator and loved to hunt and fish.

Her son: Ricky Jo Meece and wife, Doreen of Las Vegas, NV;
Her brother: Larry Deets and wife, Jackie of Burden, KS;
Her sister: Doris Taylor of Kingman, KS;
Her sister-in-law: Ava Deets of Burden, KS;
Her grandchild, Samantha; and
Her nieces: Debbie Pettigrew and Vickie Drake, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Vernon, and her twin sister, Donna.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 11:00 A.M., at the Burden United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
A Memorial has been established in Darlene's name for the Dexter Alumni Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
