Darlene Irene Cotton, 79, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 21, 2021 at her home.

Born December 7, 1941 in Oketo, Kansas, she was the daughter of Albert and Marie (Millenbruch) Weyer. She was raised and received her education in Wichita, Kansas.

Darlene married Troy McCullough on October 19, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas. The couple made their home in Wichita until moving to the family farm in 1972. To this union, five children were born and the couple later divorced. Darlene remained on the family farm and worked in the kitchen at Winfield High School and later for Cessna Aircraft. In 1983, she purchased nine cottages on Olive Street in Winfield. She enjoyed being a landlord the rest of her life.

She was united in marriage to Lenford Cotton on June 27, 1992 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield. The couple made their home in Shidler, Oklahoma. Mr. Cotton preceded her in death on February 1, 2005. Darlene remained in Shidler until returning to Winfield in 2019.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Kaws & Squaws Square Dancers. Giving blood was important to Darlene and she was recognized for donating over 189 pints of blood. She enjoyed volunteering at the Ponca City Senior Center, playing cards, calling bingo, square dancing, and gardening.

Her family includes her children, Allen McCullough of Snyder, TX; Linda Laude and husband, Brad of Wakarusa; Audrey Feaster and husband, Greg of Winfield; and her 13 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Darlene was preceded in death by two brothers Oscar and Marvin Derrel Weyer, a sister Lucille Lattis, a daughter-in-law Patricia McCullough, two sons, Larry McCullough and Anthony McCullough, a grandson TJ McCullough, and a great granddaughter Aubree Hopkins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 26, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Wednesday from 5 to 7 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.

A memorial has been established in Darlene's name for Relay For Life of Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
