Dale K. Brown, 86, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, April 26, 2018 at Via Christi Village Ridge in Wichita.
Born May 23, 1931 Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, he was the son of George R. and Wilma E. (Kendrick) Brown. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1949. Shortly after school he went to work as a production worker at Gott.
In 1954 Dale was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. He served in Fairbanks, Alaska, for 2 years receiving his honorable discharge in 1956. After being honorably discharged from the service he returned to Winfield and continued working for Gott. Dale remained with Gott for 50 years retiring from Rubbermaid in 2001 as a delivery driver.
He enjoyed being on his computer, whittling, sharpening his knives, and repurposing household items. He especially enjoyed spending time with his loving canine companion Penny.
His family includes his daughter Janet Smith and husband, Larry of Wichita; his son Larry Brown and wife, Kimie of Kapaa, HI; his brother Dwight Brown and wife, Dee of Camden-Wyoming, Delaware; his grandchildren Shelley Smith and husband, Robert of Haysville; Sarah Anderson and husband, Brent of Wichita; Michael Brown and wife, Chelsea of Oklahoma City, OK; Brian Brown of Phoenix, AZ; Larry Brown, Jr. and wife, Laura of Spring, TX; and his eight great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by an infant sister, Leona Louise Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment with military Committal Honors will follow at Highland Cemetery in Winfield.
A memorial has been established in Dale's name for the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
