D. Brunise King, 88, of Wichita, formerly of Winfield, passed away Monday afternoon, November 17, 2014 at her daughter's home in Wichita.

Born December 9, 1925 in Enterprise, Alabama, she was the daughter of Frank and Willie Clyde Bragg. She was raised and educated in Georgia and Alabama.

Brunise was united in marriage to Lawrence P. King on October 5, 1943 in Phenix City, Alabama. The couple moved to Winfield in 1953. Mrs. King was a homemaker and farmer's wife. Lawrence preceded her in death on March 22, 2007. Brunise moved to Wichita in 2012 due to her failing health.

She was a member of the Soroptimist Club for many years. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards and cooking. She was well known for her pies. She especially loved square dancing. She and Lawrence square danced for over 30 years.

Her son: Lawrence P. King, Jr. and wife, Jeanette of Winfield;
Her daughters: Dottie Bailey and husband, Clark of Wichita; Diane Bowlin and husband, Brian Rowan of Winfield;
Her sister: Betty Dowling of Columbus, GA;
Her grandchildren: Maria King; Lawrence P. King, III; Andi Gillett and husband, Kyle; James King and wife, Jennifer; Brianne Beeson; Jimmie Topper, Hallee Topper; Michael Bowlin; and
Her great grandchildren: Jacob and Kiley Beeson, Lucas, Amelia and Eloise King, and Treyton Topper.

In addition to her parents and husband, Brunise was preceded in death by her son, Leroy C. King and her brother, Austin Bragg.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service.

Memorials have been established in Mrs. King's name for the Ark City TakeDown Club and for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
