CURTIS LaVAUGH ROWE, SR., 49, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, January 17, 2009 in Arkansas City, due to injuries received in a motor vehicle accident.
Born on August 22, 1959 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Chester and Arvenia (Lewis) Rowe. He was raised and received his education in Winfield. Curtis was involved in track and football. He dedicated his life at an early age and was a member of the Second Baptist Church.
He was united in marriage on December 4, 1981 to Angela Kay Blecha, and two children were born to this union, Curtis LaVaughn and Amy Elizabeth Rowe. The couple later divorced.
Curtis later married Lora Wise. He had been employed at Winfield Country Club and K-Square. He held various construction jobs, his last being Simmons Construction. Curtis was a jack of all trades and master of none, a hard worker and well liked. His hobbies included fishing, welding, building barbeque grills and cooking for family.

His sisters: Ernestine Spall of Rosalyn, PA; Vivian Tapia and Trina Berry both of Wichita, KS; Tami Fulcher of Winfield, KS; and Evelyn Rowe of Kansas City, MO;
His grandchildren: Josephilip, JakobNoah, Jaida and Natalie Rowe all of Lincoln, NE; and
Numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Rowe.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 23, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, January 22, 2009.
A memorial has been established in Curtis's name for the Second Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
