Cortney Christine Brewer, 26, of Arkansas City, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, November 19, 2010.
Born September 13, 1984 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Ron J. Brewer and Elaine (Marcum) Selenke. She was raised and received her education in Arkansas City and Oxford, graduating from Oxford High School in 2003. While in school she was an active member on the volleyball, basketball, and track team. After high school she earned her Certified Nursing Certificate. She had worked at several nursing homes in Cowley County.
She enjoyed animals, going camping, kayaking, and just loved being outdoors. She especially loved spending time with her friends and family.

Her maternal grandmother: Mildred Marcum of Anderson, IN;
Her paternal grandmother: Wilma Brewer of Austin, TX;
Her aunts: Phyllis Parker and husband, Denny of Biloxi, MS; Charlotte Young and husband, Bill of Austin, TX;
Her uncle: Greg Brewer of Salem, OR; and
Several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cortney was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Ken Marcum, her paternal grandfather, Vaughn Brewer, and her Uncle, Brian Brewer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday November 24, 2010 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
A Memorial has been established in Cortney's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
