Connie Jean
Andes
May 16, 1939 – November 14, 2023
On November 14, 2023 Connie Jean Andes stepped into the arms of her Heavenly Father. Connie suffered a stroke several months ago and was able to leave her pain and suffering behind and passed peacefully at home in Winfield, Kansas.
Connie Jean Andes was born on May 16, 1939, in Winfield, to Ralph Henderson and Neva (Stuber) Henderson of Burden, Kansas. When Connie was 16 years old her mother passed away suddenly. Since Connie was the oldest, she stepped up and helped her father take care of her four siblings, Sonny, Sarah, Ralph and John Henderson. After Connie graduated from Central of Burden High School, she went to work in the physical therapy department at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center.
In June of 1962, Connie and Gary Andes were united in marriage. They moved into a house that was a mile west of Burden where their first child, Todd Lynn Andes was born. A few years later they moved to their home in Winfield where their daughter Trudy Andes Campbell was born.
Connie worked alongside her father in the real estate and oil business for many years. She later formed her own business, Andes Real Estate and she and Gary began buying farms and ranches for both them and Gary's brothers, Donnie and Willie Andes. The Andes Brothers partnership was formed. Connie also took over the oil and gas business from her father, Ralph Henderson.
Connie and Gary and their two children, Todd and Trudy, moved east of Winfield and enjoyed living with their dogs, horses, cattle and donkeys. In June of 1980, her husband Gary Andes was killed in a farm truck accident at the age of forty- three. Connie continued working in her real estate company and remained business partners with her brother-in-law Donnie Andes. She was also business partners with her two children, Todd and Trudy, known as Andes Land, Cattle and Oil.
Connie was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband Gary L. Andes, son Todd L. Andes, brothers, John and Jacob "Sonny" Henderson, brothers-in-law, Willis Andes and Donald Andes, sister-in-law Vickie Andes Metzinger, and one great grandson Braden Andes.
Connie is survived by her daughter Trudy Andes Campbell (husband Travis); Trudy's children, Garrett Champlin and Westen Champlin; Todd's longtime partner Reida Miller; Todd's children, Garylynn Miller (Austin), Kasha David (Morgan), Geremy Andes (Georganna), Vegas Andes, Reno Andes, Chetta Andes; sister Sarah Martin; brother Ralph Henderson; along with great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Connie's memorial service and lunch will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Central Baptist Church at 904 Wheat road in Winfield, of which all who knew Connie are invited to come celebrate her life, eat lunch and share their memories.
