Spainhour
August 17, 1933 – November 14, 2020
On November 14, Con R. Spainhour of Winfield, KS, went to be with his Father in Heaven at the age of 87 years.
Con was a proud graduate of THE University of Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy. There he met the love of his life, Barbara, wife of 65 years. He began his career as a staff pharmacist in Topeka, KS; owned and operated his own pharmacies in Kingman and Cheney, KS; worked for a decade as the Director of Pharmacy at the Winfield State Hospital; and finally concluded his career at Winfield Pharmacy. At the end of his career, at the age of 85, Con was one of the oldest practicing pharmacists in the state of Kansas. In addition to his long and satisfying career as a pharmacist, Con was a member of The Missouri Synod Lutheran church in each community in which he and Barbara resided, and also served on the school boards in the communities where he and Barbara raised their children: Kingman, Cheney, and Greensburg.
Con will be lovingly remembered by children: Sara (Robert Jones); Julia (Rebecca Floyd); Elisabeth (Regis Walsh); Kathryn (Russell Neuenschwander); Martha (Scott Lehner); John (Jodi); Sam (Cari); and Suzanne (Brian Gentry); and sister, Suzan Stremel. Con will also be lovingly remembered by 16 grandchildren: Meghan, Kurt, Amanda, Wyatt, Grant, Kyle, Alec, Chelsa, Kristen, Ben, Katie, Arin, Rebekah, Riley, Anna, and Paul; 5 great-grandchildren: Jesse, Fiona, Will, Jericho, and Charles.
Con was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents, Ben and Kathryn Spainhour; and a grandson, Con Walsh.
A private, family graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery in Winfield, under the direction of Miles Funeral Service. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran School, 910 Mound Street, Winfield, KS. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
