Colette J. Smith, 50, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday afternoon, May 25, 2018 in Amarillo, Texas.
Born September 16, 1967 in Arkansas City, Kansas, she was the daughter of Floyd and Connie (Sauerwein) Smith. She was raised and received her early education in Cambridge, Kansas until moving with her family to Winfield in 1982. She attended high school in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1986. She then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to attend college and returned to Winfield a short time later and attended Cowley County Community College. After school, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia with friends and then to Canada, living in both Cold Lake, Alberta, and Base Borden, Ontario. While in Canada, she worked in the bakery department at IGA. In 2005, Colette returned to Cambridge to care for her mother. After her mother's passing she began her career as a caregiver, working for Home Health Care, Cumbernauld Village, Kansas Veterans Home, and was currently working at Southwind ResCare.
She was a member of Cornerstone Bible Fellowship in Winfield. She enjoyed exercising, mountain biking, baking, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Her family includes her fiancé Larry Golightley of Winfield; her daughter Stephanie Miller of Ponca City, OK; her son James Judd of Winfield; her sister Carrie Ives of Amarillo, TX; her grandson Austin Lester of Ponca City, OK; and her many close friends.
Colette was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Smith and Connie Dietrick.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 P.M., Monday, June 4, 2018 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
A memorial has been established in Colette's name for the James Judd Educational Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
