Cody Dean Widener, 65, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022, at his home.

Born January 14, 1957, in Springfield, Missouri, he was the son of Clarence and Maxine (Gurnee) Widener. He was raised and received his education in Winfield. He was married to Inza on July 14. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2017. Cody worked as a Security Guard for Diamond Security until his health began to fail.

He enjoyed fishing, driving his truck, watching wrestling, and shopping for cowboy boots. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

His family includes his children, Tim Widener of Winfield; Everett Widener of Wichita; Jeremy Widener and wife, Emily Brown of Winfield; Justin Widener of Wichita; and Angel Trainer of Wichita; his grandchildren, Mercedes Dunbar, Brandon Widener, Zena Widener, Xzandra Widener, Alexia Trainer, Albert Widener, and Gannon Widener; his great granddaughters, Aaliayah Prouse and Zeanna Widener; and his siblings, Jeff Widener, Lennie Widener, Ricky Widener, Cinda Adams, and Connie Brooks, all of Winfield.

In addition to his parents and wife, Cody was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry and Terry Widener, and Leroy Widener, and a sister Kelly Sanders.

The family will hold private memorial services. Cremation is under the direction of Miles Funeral service.

A memorial has been established in Cody's name to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
