Obituary

CM1-(SCW) Owen Eugene Johnson, 43 of Underwood, Iowa passed away Monday, August 30, 2010 at his home.

Born October 17, 1966 in Winfield, Kansas he was the son of William E. and Margaret A. (Thomson) Johnson.  He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1985. Owen joined the US Navy December 22, 1984 and went active duty upon graduation.

Owen's military career began with Basic Training in Orlando, FL then with Seal Team 2 Amphibious Unit in Little Creek, VA.  He later became a Seabee and served with the NMCB/1 and NMCB/74 out of Gulfport, MS.  He later transferred to Ft. Worth, TX with NMCB/22.  Owen Retired from the Navy in 2005 after 20 years of service.

Owen was a lifetime member of the Winfield VFW Post 10.

Owen married Bettina Lynn Reynolds of Winfield, KS on September 28, 1992 in Gulfport, MS.  After retiring from the Navy they made their home in Underwood, IA. He worked at Rasmussen Mechanical Services in Council Bluffs, IA as a HVAC Service Technician and was also an accomplished diesel mechanic.

Owen is survived by:
His wife Bettina;
His three sons: Austin Martin, Colton Johnson, Devin Johnson;
His daughter: Haylee Johnson;
His mother Margaret Carroll and husband Graydon Carroll,
His 3 brothers: William Johnson, Lewis Johnson and wife Deborah, James Johnson and wife Litisha; and
His sister Donna Pond and husband Daniel.
He is also survived by 5 step-brothers and 3 step-sisters and his grandmother Florence A. Thomson, and many nieces and nephews.

Owen was preceded in death by his father William Earl Johnson and a brother William Earl Johnson, Jr.

Owen was loved by his friends and family as well as those in his extended family; Marshall and Lola Martin, Nancy Martin and all his brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Naval Committal honors and interment will follow at the Kansas Veteran's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 7, 2010.
