Clarence "Neil" Hunt, 94, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon in Winfield.
Born February 4, 1917 on a farm north of Elgin, Kansas to Clarence and Doris (Pumpelly) Hunt. Neil attended grade school at Moore Prairie Rural School. Then went to high school in Sedan. He then graduated from college in Ottawa, Kansas, in 1939.
On December 24, 1939 he married Maxine Savage. She preceded him in death in May of 1993 after 54 years of marriage. Neil married Mary Endicott in Norfolk, Virginia on September 10, 1994.
Neil served in the Air Force during World War II as a pilot instructor. He was honorably discharged in September 1946. He owned and operated an auto repair shop in Sedan, called Hunt's ETC Service, for many years.
Neil moved to Winfield in 1974. He worked for State Social Services as a supervisor of 5 counties. He worked for the Burden School District as a bus driver and maintenance man until retiring in 1986.
Neil was an active member of the First Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School most of his life. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #10, as well as the Elks Lodge in Winfield.

His sister: Nina Sims of Chautauqua;
His sister-in-law: Rosalyn Midgett of Norfolk, VA;
His very special friends: Howard and Joan Sturgis of Napa Valley, CA;
His foster son: Jim Hunt of Pawhuska, OK;
His foster grandchildren: Jimmy Hunt of Pawhuska, OK; Alicia and Lexi Hunt of Pawhuska, OK;
His nieces: Cindy Raymond of Wichita; Jacquie Tinkin and husband, Steve of Hutchinson; Sandy Yount and husband, Bill of Sublet;
His nephew: Don Sims and wife, Carmen of Sedan;
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday October 5, 2011, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas. Interment will follow at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Neil's name for Hospice Care of Kansas and for the First Baptist Church in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
