Christa M. Atwood-Holloway, 93, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, March, 19, 2013 at Cumbernauld Village.
Christa was born April 21, 1919 in Bryard, Kansas. She was the youngest of eight children born to Peter Edward and Cordelia Jane (Mathewson) McGee. The family moved to Floral, Kansas, where Christa attended Floral Grade School through the 7th grade. They then moved to Winfield, where she attended Winfield High School. She quit school her Junior year to go to work fulltime at the Hamburger Inn on south Main.
On April 10, 1938 she married Warren Leroy "Curley" Atwood of Caldwell, Kansas. They had one son Donald Leroy, born April 3, 1940 in Lyons, Kansas. In 1948, they moved back to Winfield and established Curley's Inn on south Main. Christa continued to operate the business until 1964, and later established Hickory Foods on west Ninth Highway. She operated a small restaurant where she manufactured "Curley's Hickory Sauce" and sold it at the market. Curley produced the sauce while they were at Curley's Inn until his passing in 1951.
Christa married Leonard Holloway in April of 1974 in Winfield. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1992.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winfield. She served as a youth Sunday School teacher for many years at the EUB Church, Millington Street Baptist Church, and the First Baptist Church of Winfield.

Her nieces: Virginia McNiff of St. Louis, MO; Lottie Jennings of Port Orange, FL; Betty Bever of Bullard, TX; Mina Eggleston of Winfield, KS;
Her sister-in-law: Linda McGee of Albuquerque, NM;
Her dear friend: Iris Biddle of Winfield, KS;
Those that knew her as "Grandma Great": Matthew Gill of Attleboro, MA; Aaron Gill of Quincy, MA; Leah Jones of Derby, KS; and
Numerous other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Holloway was preceded in death by, four brothers, Harold, Hugh, Charles, and Carl, three sisters, Della, Lottie and Vera, her son Donald Atwood, and a grandson, Steve Holloway.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Winfield. Interment will be at 2:00 P.M. at the Caldwell Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, March 25, 2013 from 2 to 5 P.M.
Memorials have been established in Mrs. Holloway's name for Harden Hospice and for the First Baptist Church in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
