Steven Houser

Chester Steven "Chet" Houser, 70, of South Haven, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at his home.
Born November 8, 1953, in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Charles William Dailey Jr. and Pauline Grace (Howard) Houser. He was raised in Rock, Kansas, and received his education in Udall, Kansas, graduating from Udall High School in 1972.
Chet made his career in data entry beginning at St. Joseph's Hospital. He later worked at Boeing for many years and then worked for Sprint. In addition to his career in data entry, Chet also farmed family land with his brother Ray. They focused mainly on wheat farming until selling the farm in 1988. After retirement, he owned and operated Oasis RV Park in South Haven. He enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, fixing cars, remodeling, and helping his family with whatever they needed.
His family includes his daughters / nieces, Kimberly Dargel and husband, James of Belle Plaine; Michelle Barker of Haysville; his brothers, Woodrow "Woody" Houser and wife, Sue of Derby; Joe Houser and wife, Marie of Arkansas City; Felix Houser of Towanda; his sisters, Carryl Houser-Routh of Edwardsville; Virginia Macy and husband, Charles "Dick" of Fort Worth, TX; Mildred "Millie" Houser of Deer Park, TX; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Chet was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray Houser, Charles Houser, Jr., and Paul Houser and his sisters, Claudine Wiseman and Donna Ehmke.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Private family interment will take place at Highland Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established in Chet's name for Cowley County FFA. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
