Obituary

Gunnery Sergeant Charles Neil Snetsinger USMC Ret, Chuck to family, Magnet Ass to Marines, Charlie to friends, and Hero to his daughters, 80, was given orders to his final station and reported for duty April 2, 2023.

The oldest of 7 children, Charlie was born to Herbert Snetsinger and Catherine (Johnson) Snetsinger on October 5, 1942, in Long Beach, CA. In 1959, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps at the age of 17, starting a 21-year career, and completed his school while serving his country. During his military career, he served as a Helo Power Plant Mechanic, U/AH1 and CH46 Helicopter Mechanic, and as a Helo Crew Chief. Charlie served four tours in Vietnam and earned numerous awards for his combat service, including four Purple Hearts (but only accepted two), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with combat V. Upon retiring from the Marine Corps, Charlie worked at Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems where he retired from both.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Greg and Herb Snetsinger; and sister KathyLou Snetsinger. He is survived by his wife Mary (Cuca) Carrillo Snetsinger of Winfield; his children, Marie Hunt and husband, Jonathan of Buxton, ME; Sheila Patton and husband, Coby of Winfield; Stephanie Kelley and husband, Wess of Winfield; Charles Snetsinger II and wife, Jodi of Goddard; his siblings, Midge Parsons and partner, Dan Ash; Mike Snetsinger and wife, Nancy; Mark Snetsinger; Chris Snetsinger and wife, Sandy; his grandchildren, Travis Ramsey and wife, Sarah of Waterboro, ME; Greg Ramsey of Buxton, ME; Stephen Hunt of Buxton, ME; Matt Hunt of Buxton, ME; Sami Nichols and husband, Phil of New Hampshire; Coby Patton II of Winfield; Rhiann Patton of Winfield; Maggie Geschwentner and husband, Grant of San Antonio, TX; Gavin Kelley of Winfield; Grace Kelley of Winfield; Graden Kelley of Winfield; Celia Snetsinger of Goddard; Jocelyn Snetsinger of Goddard; Cole Snetsinger of Goddard; Jenae Snetsinger of Goddard; and his great-grandchildren, Noah Patton of Winfield; Estin Schroth of Winfield; Baby Geschwentner of San Antonio, TX; Madison Hunt of Buxton, ME; and Linkon Nichols of New Hampshire.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Miles Funeral Service.  Military Committal Honors will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery.

Memorials have been established in Charlie's name for the Cowley County Humane Society and Tunnels to Towers.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
