Charles Dwayne Moore, 76, passed away December 23, 2021, at his home in Winfield, Kansas.
Charles was born December 9, 1945, in Winfield, Kansas, at St. Mary's Hospital to Charles "Bud" and Dorothy (May) Moore. The family lived in Burden, Kansas and that is where Charles received his education. He graduated from Burden High School in 1964. He later moved to Winfield, where Charles made his home for more than 40 years.
Charles was united in marriage to Mary Kathryn (Alexander) Estabrook on May 22, 1981, at their home in Winfield, Kansas.
As a young man, Charles worked for the Wakefield Ranch out of Atlanta, Kansas. He often spoke about driving the show cattle around the country and stories of his time on the ranch. Charles later began his career at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center where he retired after 40 years of service. While employed there, he was the manager of the laundry and twice received Non-uniformed Employee of the Year after KDOC took over the facility.
Charles was a member of Millington Street Baptist Church in Winfield. He was a man grounded by his faith and God's word. He lived a faithful life. Charles loved spending time tinkering in his shop, building things. He enjoyed woodworking, playing the guitar, and just having a conversation reminiscing about the good old days. Charles was most proud of his family.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by an infant sister Jeanetta Pearl, sister Lonna Hill, brother Wesley Moore, brother-in-law Herman Hill, and a sister-in-law Glynda Alexander.
Survivors include his wife Mary of the home; mother-in-law Pauline Alexander; of Jay, OK; sisters-in-law, Sharon Moore of Arkansas City; Tina and Jeff Gage of Maple City; Gina and Steve Boatman of Dexter; brothers-in-law, Galen Alexander of Winfield; Kelley and Maria Alexander of Davenport, OK; children, Kim Estabrook of Winfield; David Estabrook and wife, Laurian of Spavinaw, OK; Towanda Barton and partner, Kory of Winfield; Clint Moore and wife, Danielle of Winfield; Joleen Moore of Novi, MI; eleven grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley and fiance, Rhein, Colby, Delenn and husband, Anthony, Nevaeh, Nathen, Ethan, Alex, Max, Danika, and Xavier; seven great grandchildren, Taryn, Sarah, Brody, Jacob, Finn, Jaxon, and Riley; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 31, 2021, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Floral Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Charles' name for Millington Street Baptist Church Missionary Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
