CHARLES DALE MONTGOMERY, 83, of Winfield, formerly of Cedar Vale, Kansas, died July 21, 2012 at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
Dale was born in Winfield, Kansas on March 17, 1929 to Charles and Georgia "Bertle" Montgomery.
He served in the United States Army in Alaska. He spent the greater part of his life farming and ranching. Dale loved working outdoors, including tending to his goats and any other animal that might show up on his doorstep. He met and married the love of his life, Beverly and spent 33 years with her before she preceded him in death.
He is survived by:
His two brothers: Floyd Montgomery and wife, Stacey; and S.J. Montgomery of Cedar Vale;
His five children: Greg Montgomery and wife, Belinda of Graham, Texas; Charlotte Montgomery of Ocala, Florida; Larry Montgomery and wife, Pam of Kansas City, Missouri; Sandy Montgomery of Wichita; and Kelly Pitcock and husband, Ronnie of Columbia, Missouri;
His six grandchildren: Jennifer Ball and husband, Nicolaus; Jessica Briand and husband, Tim; Stefanie Jochums and husband, Andy; Tara Lovelace and husband, Larry; Brittany and Amber Wilson; and Jared and Jennifer Montgomery;
His six great grandchildren: Dominique Lovelace, Isaac Lovelace, Kaelynn Wilson, Reagan Ball, Bently Wilson and Aila Lovelace; and
His other extended family: Ken and Arlene Piper, Bob and Sharon Burns, and Wayne Montgomery.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bertle Montgomery, his sister, Naomi Kelsey; and his wife, Beverly Montgomery.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday morning, July 24, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at the Kansas Veteran's Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening, July 23, 2012 from 4 to 8 P.M.
A Memorial has been established in Mr. Montgomery's name for the Hospice Unit at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
