Charles Leyton Dunbar, 57, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022, at his home.
Born October 20, 1964, in Winfield, he was the son of Charles Richard and Wilmeta (Doolittle) Dunbar. He was raised and received his education in Winfield. Charles began working as a CNA and CMA for the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center. He later worked for the Kansas Veterans Home and Rest Haven. He also worked in pest control for seven years and in maintenance, first for Wal-Mart for over six years and later for Southwestern College.
He was united in marriage to Sheryl A. Stuckey on March 24, 2001, at the First Christian Church. The couple made their home in Winfield. Sheryl preceded him in death on November 27, 2020.
Charles enjoyed photography, putting collages together, computer programming, guns, Marvel movies, and especially enjoyed all things related to knives, including swords, pocket knives, etc. He was a Star Wars fanatic. He enjoyed drawing, and was a very detailed artist.
His family includes his children, Mercedes Dunbar and fiance, Raymond Clark of Wichita; Matthew Stuckey and fiance, Sarah Macnaughton of Winfield; his grandchildren, Ariana Marie Clark, and Nicholas Ray Clark; his siblings, Kay Jordan and husband, Dallas of Winfield; Alvin Sweet and wife, Rita of Hurst, TX; and Chet Sweet and wife, Danice of Winfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and father-in-law, Floyd D. Stuckey.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Wilmot Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, from 5 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
A memorial has been established in Charles' name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
