Obituary

CHARLES V. BLANKENSHIP, 87, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, September 26, 2013 at Good Samaritan Society in Winfield.

Born on February 4, 1926 in Belle Plaine, Kansas, he was the son of Aaron and Dola (Warner) Blankenship. He was raised and received his education in Belle Plaine.

He was united in marriage on January 31, 1953 to Laura June Hain in Bentonville, Arkansas. The couple made their home in Belle Plaine, Kansas and he was employed for Swifts Ice Cream. The couple moved to Parsons, Kansas in 1967 and he worked at Montgomery Ward. They moved to Winfield in 1971 and he was employed for Tony's Pizza until retiring in the mid 1970's. Mrs. Blankenship preceded him in death on March 26, 2006.

Charles was a member of the Church of Christ in Belle Plaine. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

His family includes:
His sons: Keith Blankenship and wife Linda of Aurora, CO; Dale Blankenship and wife Debbie of League City, TX; and Danny Blankenship and wife Michelle of League City, TX;
His daughters: Shirley Rowan of Wichita, KS; Judy Davis and husband Bob of Fall River, KS; and Vicki Blankenship of Newkirk, OK;
His 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam, Alford and Hubert Blankenship; his granddaughter, Wendy Heath; and his grandson, Joseph D. Shrader.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 30, 2013 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Belle Plaine Cemetery in Belle Plaine, Kansas. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, September 29, 2013. The family will greet friends during that time.

Memorials have been established in Mr. Blankenship's name for Good Samaritan Society and Harden Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
