Chanthiene John Vongbolikhanh, 64, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018 at Wesley Medical Center.
Born December 3, 1953 in Parksane, Laos, he was the son of Boomi and Hong Phaengnavong. He graduated high school in Laos and then joined the Laos Army. His family moved to the United States in 1980. John attended Winfield High School to learn English.
He married Clara Carlene Crouse in 1984. She preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Somkhith Chanthelangsy in August 1998 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where John worked as a forklift driver for Rubbermaid. John loved fishing and hunting and went regularly with his son.
His family includes his wife Somkhith Vongbolikhanh of Winfield; his son Nation Vongbolikhanh of Winfield; his daughter Jasmine Vongbolikhanh of Winfield; his father Boomi Phaengnavong of Laos; his five siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his mother and his first wife.
Buddhist funeral ceremonies will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 4 to 7 P.M.
