Carolyn L. Verbeck, 84, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Cumbernauld Village.

Born December 23, 1935 in Winfield, she was the daughter of Theodore William "Pete" and Georgia Louise (Hogg) Beeman.  She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1953.  Carolyn then attended Wichita Business College before beginning her career as a bookkeeper.

Carolyn was united in marriage to Charles Walter Verbeck on April 6, 1957 in Winfield.  The couple made their home in Winfield where Carolyn worked at First National Bank.  She later went to work as a bookkeeper in tax preparation for Edward B. Stephenson and Co., until retiring.  After retiring from bookkeeping, Carolyn enjoyed owning and operating the Walnut Valley Skate Center in Winfield with her son, Tim and husband, Charles.  Charles preceded her in death on June 5, 2013.

She was a member of Millington Street Baptist Church.  She enjoyed knitting and working at the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival.

Her family includes her son Tim Verbeck and wife, Heather of El Dorado; her daughter Julia Langley and husband, Joe of Winfield; her grandchildren, Winter Palmer and husband, James of Simpsonville, SC; Buck Verbeck and wife, Leigh Ann of Maize; Hannah Blanton and husband, Tate of Charleston, SC; and her great grandchildren, Talon and Tucker Verbeck; and Autumn and Darius Palmer.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Mt. Vernon Cemetery west of Winfield.  Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 5 P.M.

A memorial has been established in Carolyn's name for the Cowley County Humane Society.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
