CAROL A. TROBAUGH, 70, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away early Saturday morning, December 6, 2008, at her home.
Born on April 9, 1938 on her grandparents farm northeast of Burden, Kansas, she was the daughter of Orin and Kathryn (Mueller) Sumner. She was raised on the farm in Dexter attending Centennial and Glenwood Schools and graduating from Dexter High School.
Carol was united in marriage to Leslie Trobaugh on December 29, 1956 in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their home in Dexter. She worked as a homemaker when she was younger and later worked for Grouse Valley Nursing Home and the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center and retired from Creative Community Living as a care giver in 2003.
Mrs. Trobaugh was a member of the Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading, canning, sewing and crochet, cooking and baking, flowers, and playing games on the internet. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her sons: Gary Trobaugh and wife, Belinda of Burden, KS; and Leslie Trobaugh and wife, Janet of Dexter, KS;
Her daughter: Sherry Harcarik and husband, George of Columbiana; OH;
Her sisters: Wanda Kunkle and husband, Eddie of Burden, KS; Marie Shelton and husband, Jack of Arkansas City, KS; and Janet Simon and husband, Jim of Tempe, AZ;
Her grandchildren: Charmaine, Joshua, Casey, Seth, Tylor, and Jeramiah; and
Her great-grandchildren: Leslie Ann, Ty Alan, and Brandon.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Phillip Sumner.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dexter Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials have been established in Mrs. Trobaugh's name for the Dexter Volunteer Fire Department, the Winfield Cancer Center of Kansas and for the Winfield Davita Dialysis Center. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
