Obituary

CAROL B. ELLIOTT, 98, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday evening, November 16, 2014 at Winfield Resthaven.

Born March 10, 1916 in Nickerson, Kansas, she was the sixth of seven children born to Phares J. and Rhoda Margaret (Wilson) Lehman. She was raised and received her education in Hutchinson, Kansas, graduating from Hutchinson High School in 1933.

Carol was united in marriage to her High School sweetheart, Butler Hurst Elliott, on December 19, 1932 in Hutchinson, Kansas. In 1949, she joined Butler in their business, Elliott Seeds, and worked by his side for over 35 years. The couple retired in 1978 and moved to Table Rock Lake in Southern, Missouri in late 1981. Mr. Elliott preceded her in death on October 16, 1987.

In May of 1991 Carol moved to Winfield, to be near family. While in Winfield she joined Cornerstone Bible Fellowship (formerly Evangelical Free Church). She volunteered to work in the office at the church and was actively involved in AWANAS and the children's church.

Her family includes:
Her daughters: Carol Ann (Elliott) DeVault of Derby; Sharon Sue (Elliott) Handlin and husband Max of Winfield, KS; and her 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Florence (Elliott) Durflinger; three grandsons, Corwin Lewis "Corky" Durflinger, John David "Little John" DeVault; and Raymond Dale "Red" Durflinger; and her great-granddaughter, Autumn Lee "Little Red" Durflinger Lee.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Graveside services will held at 1:00 P.M., Friday November 21, 2014 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Hutchinson. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 19, 2014. The family will greet friends from 5 to 6 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Carol's name for Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
