Obituary

Carl G. Rowe, 80, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday evening, January 20, 2020 at William Newton Hospital.

Born October 13, 1939 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of David Duane and Sylvia Rose (Huff) Rowe. He was raised and received his education in Winfield. From an early age, Carl fell in love with the rodeo. He travelled the country, riding bulls from California to New York, including events at Madison Square Garden. He was a member of many rodeo associations and rode bulls on many rodeo circuits. Carl worked for Sonny Henderson when he wasn't rodeoing.

He was a member of Millington Street Baptist Church. Carl also enjoyed reading, animals, spending time with his nephews and nieces, and giving advice and lessons to others on the sport of bull riding.

His family includes his nieces, Raylene Mattocks (Bob); Linda Gotthard (Richard); Carolyn Bruner (Mark); Brenda Asbury (Scott); nephews, Roger Sutton (Pam); Mitch Sutton; Darrell Sutton (Terry); and many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother Bill Rowe and three sisters, Nelda Crouse, Norma Jean Asbury, and JoAnn Sutton, and a nephew Larry Asbury.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 27, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Rose Valley Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.

Memorials have been established in Carl's name for the Forever 7 Rodeo Association and for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
