Obituary

Carl Mac Arndt, 70, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Friday morning, September 11, 2009 at his home.

Born May 21, 1939 in Jacksonville, Florida, he was the son of Carl Lewis and Pearl (Sweet) Arndt. His family moved to Kansas while he was a small child. He was raised and received his education in Howard, Kansas, graduating from Howard High School in 1958. After graduation he attended Wichita Barber College. In 1961 he began working at South City Barber where he worked with Paul Stone for over 47 years until retiring on June 26, 2008.

Carl was united in marriage to Jackie Anderson in Miami, Oklahoma, on May 27, 1980.The couple made their home in Winfield.

He attended the Central Baptist Church in Winfield, and most recently began attending Maple City Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to casinos, dog tracks, horse racing, and especially loved taking trips with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

His brothers: Gary Arndt of Winfield; Vernon Hughes and wife, Jane of Coffeyville;
His sisters: Sandy Ball and husband, Ray of Winfield; Ruth Depew and husband, Larry of Wichita; Donna Whetstine of Emporia;
His grandchildren: Shelbye, Jolie, and Bailye Butler, Brandon Arndt, Benjamin, Brittnee, Breanna, and Briley Hughes, Dallas and Frankie Lynn Smith, Morgan and Lindsay Gose, Isaac, Sam, and McKenzie Arndt;
His great grandson: Brennan Arndt; and
His extended family members: Fred and Linda Koonce; Kay Bond; Millie Maxwell.

In addition to his parents Carl was preceded in death by an infant brother Duane Arndt.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas. Inurnment services will follow at Highland Cemetery in Winfield.

A memorial has been established in Carl's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
