Calvin T. Waits Jr., 50, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 at his home.

Calvin was born on May 10, 1961 in Longview, Texas. He was raised and received his education in and around Wichita, Kansas. After school he began working as a heavy equipment operator. He later went to work for the Winfield State Hospital where he met the love of his life, Teresa Parsons.

Calvin was united in marriage to Teresa Parsons on May 14, 1988 in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield. Calvin later attended Southwestern College where he received his BSN in Nursing. He then went to work as a Registered Nurse for the Prison Health Systems in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Florida.

He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers football team, and the University of Kansas Jayhawks. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

His parents: Walter and Virginia Leninsky of O'Fallon, IL;
His sister: Shannon Waits of O'Fallon, IL;
His brothers: Royce Waits and wife, Charlene of Coldwater, MS; Mike Leninsky and wife, Kathe of Columbia, MO; Walter Leninsky III of Belleville, IL;
His grandchildren: Colton and Hunter Lamb of Meeker, CO; and
Many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his grandparents, Calvin was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Waits.

A Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Thursday afternoon July 28, 2011 from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. The rosary will be recited that evening at 7:00 at Holy Name Catholic Church.

A memorial has been established in Mr. Waits' name to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
