Calvin Scott Thomas, 77, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, October 23, 2024 at his home.

Born February 9, 1947 in Independence, Kansas, he was the son of Boyd O. and Mary Jane (Scott) Thomas.  Calvin was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1965.  He continued his education at Cowley County Community College.

Calvin worked at General Electric and Cessna Aircraft, retiring from Cessna as the department scheduler.  As a young man, he enjoyed playing slow pitch softball.  He was a dog lover and a car enthusiast.  He was proud of his 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass.

His family includes his brother Richard Thomas and wife, Peggy of Arkansas City; his nephew Clint Byrne of Arkansas City; and his cousins, John Wade and Steve Wade of Coffeyville; and Barbara Parsons of Independence.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 1, 2024, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.  Private burial will take place at Memorial Lawn Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Calvin's name for the Cowley County Humane Society.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
