Brenda Lee Lowe, 62, lifelong resident of Winfield, Kansas proceeded into eternal life on Saturday, April 3, 2021.
Brenda was born January 28, 1959 to Jack R. and Onettia "Neta" F. (Shelton) Eastman. Brenda was born and raised in Winfield and NEVER wanted to leave. Winfield was home. She attended kindergarten at Bryant School in 1964. From 1965-1969, she attended 1st-5th grades at Lowell Elementary. Sixth grade year was at Webster in 1970. Her junior and senior high years were spent at Winfield High School from 1971-1977, graduating with the class of 1977.
Brenda married the love of her life, David Wayne Lowe on November 26, 1975 in Sedan, Kansas. Out of their marriage came 36 wonderful years and three amazing children, Kirsta Dawn Lowe Kalkwarf, Brandon Wayne Lowe and Lucretia Renee' Lowe.
Brenda was a member of the Walnut Valley Quilters Guild, Walnut Valley 4-H as a club leader for 14 years, Viking Booster where she served as vice-president, chaperoned many dances and youth sponsored activities. She attended First Church of the Nazarene where she met her husband.
In 1993, Brenda attended Cowley County Community College and received her Certified Nurse Aide license. In June of 1993, Brenda attended Barton County Community College and earned her Activity Director's certification. In December of 1993, she attended Barton County Community College and received her Social Service Designee certificate.
Brenda went to work for Darryl Crow at the local Burger Station and the Cattleman's Club. She worked in foodservice for USD 465 while her children were small. After working several years in local nursing home settings, including Winfield Rest Haven and Cumbernauld Village, she went into in-home private geriatrics care where she had a special bond with those she cared for. She also worked at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City. In 2000, Brenda began work at SouthWind-ResCare as an activity program director. She retired in 2019.
Brenda's hobbies included quilting, gardening and canning, working in the yard, cooking, baking and sharing recipes, scrapbooking and crafts. Her true passion was time spent with her husband, children and grandchildren, traveling, camping, boating, going to Island Park, and attending and watching on TV the Kansas City Chiefs football. Brenda LOVED being a wife, mom, mamaw, nana and sissy.
Brenda was preceded in death by her soulmate, David Wayne Lowe; her grandparents, Leo and Thelma (Floyd) Eastman; Bill and Alice (Harman) Shelton; her great grandparents, John and Mary Floyd; and her mother, Neta Eastman.
She is survived by her children, Kirsta Dawn Lowe Kalkwarf and husband, Greg of Clearwater; Brandon Lowe of Winfield; Lucretia Lowe of Winfield; her grandchildren, Emma Elizabeth Fern Lowe and Audra Abigail Rose Lowe of Winfield; Bryce Lowe Kalkwarf and Teagan Jayne Kalkwarf of Clearwater; Lorelie Elaynea Lowe Wilt of Winfield; her father Jack Eastman of Winfield; her sister Tamara Lemon and husband, Billy Bob of Winfield; her brothers, Jack Eastman, Jr. and wife, Mary of Oxford; Rodney Eastman and wife, Charity of Winfield; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors that evening.
A memorial has been established in Brenda's name for her grandchildren's college education. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
