Brandie Catheleen Owen, 36, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 25, 2013 in Dexter.
Born December 12, 1976 in Eureka, Kansas she was the daughter of Michael and Stephanie (Ringgold) Burks. She was raised and received her early education in Emporia, Kansas. Later the family moved to Newkirk, Oklahoma, where she attended high school graduating from Newkirk High School in 1995.
Brandie was united in marriage to Doster Owen on July 21, 2001 at the Marland Mansion in Ponca City, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Arkansas City, Kansas. They later moved to Newkirk, Oklahoma and Brandie began going to school at Cowley County Community College. She later attended Wichita State University and Newman University in Wichita. In 2003, the couple moved to Dexter, Kansas and she began working in the medical field. Brandie made her main career as a homemaker and stay at home mom.
She was a member of Osage Heights Baptist Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She enjoyed photography. She especially loved supporting her children in their football, baseball and wrestling activities and being involved with the Warriors and Vikings.

Her sisters: Danielle Garver and husband, Josh of Winfield; and Destiny Burks of Ponca City, OK;
Her maternal grandparents: Paul and Geraldine Ringgold of Dexter; and
Her father-in-law: James Owen of Burden.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Milo Burks and her mother-in-law, Charissa Owen.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
A Memorial has been established in Brandie's name for her children's educational fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
