Obituary

Bonnie Lee Stephenson Sandell passed away peacefully in her home February 9th, 2017 in Tucson, AZ.

Bonnie was born January 19, 1933 in Coffeyville, KS. Bonnie was predeceased by husband, Norman Ray and son, Gary Stephen, parents, Edward B. and Lorraine Stephenson, and sister, Dorothy Dobbs (James).

Surviving are her children, David Sandell (Cathy); Julia Ann Schaper; Grandchildren, Lindsay Jimenez (Carlos), Molly and Rachel Schaper; Great Grandchildren, Isaiah Carlos and Gabriel Evan Jimenez and Braxton Ray Hamer.

After Norman retired from the Air Force, Bonnie received her Bachelor of Music with Summa Cum Laude honors from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ. She played violin and was the concert master for the ASU Symphony. She was so proud to still be in The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She continued her education and received her Master's degree in Music at the University of Arizona, Tucson and played violin for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra for 16 years.

Bonnie and Norm had a beautiful marriage of 64 years. They loved to travel and socialize, they were blessed to have so many wonderful friends. Bonnie loved to do her really hard puzzles in the paper, she was amazingly intelligent and wise. Bonnie was an incredible mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was always there for her family and had so much love to give. The Sandell family also has a great compassion for animals. She will be missed by many.

Services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 3:30 p.m. at Highland Cemetery, 702 Amos Becker Rd, Winfield, KS. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
