Obituary

BONNIE JEAN ROBINSON, 83, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Saturday morning, April 11, 2009, at Galicia Heart Hospital in Wichita.

Born June 2, 1925 in Stafford, Kansas, she was the daughter of Cecil and Leona (Nelson) Bartlett. She was raised and received her education in Stafford, graduating from Stafford High School. Following high school, Bonnie worked as a bank teller in Stafford and in Wichita.

Bonnie was united in marriage to Ernest A. "Bud" Robinson in Stafford, Kansas on June 5, 1948. The couple lived in Stafford, Hutchinson, Wichita, and Liberal before making their home in Winfield in 1959. She was employed at Peacock Roller Rink for over 25 years. Bud and Bonnie owned and operated Viking Sewing Machine Service Center in Winfield from 1970 until 1995. Bud preceded her in death on October 30, 1997. In her later years, Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper at Winfield Pharmacy and at Medicap Pharmacy.

Sewing was Bonnie's life. She was an artist on the sewing machine. She also enjoyed quilting.

Her son: Rex E. Robinson of Corona, CA;
Her daughters: Rita Ruanne Chijimatsu and husband, Mike of Riverside, CA; and Sherri Lynne Alger and husband, Tom of Friona, TX;
Her step-son: Ronald Gene Robinson and wife, Sue of Victorville, CA;
Her sister: Toniette Blackburn and husband, Martin of Brea, CA;
Her many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bonnie was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ronda Kay Robinson, a sister, Yozelle Newell, a brother, Bernard Bartlett, and a step-daughter, Marcia Rose Corrales.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at 1:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will be held at Stafford Cemetery in Stafford, Kansas on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 12:00 P.M. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday evening from 5 to 9 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in Mrs. Robinson's name for the American Heart Association and for the Cancer Support Group of Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
