BONNIE M. HENSLEY, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, December 12, 2013 at Winfield Resthaven.

Born on March 25, 1922 in Bronson, Kansas, she was the daughter of Roy and Edyth (Meek) Northway. Bonnie was raised and received her education in Xenia and later Iola, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Ernest W. Hensley on December 3, 1938 in Iola, Kansas. The couple made their home for a short time in Wilmot, Kansas before moving to Winfield. Bonnie was a homemaker until the early 1950's. She went to work at Sheneman's Meat Market and later Mauer Neuer and Pomona Tile. In 1963 the couple moved to Topeka, Kansas and she worked at Fleming Grocery Warehouse for a short time. Bonnie was later employed for the State of Kansas where she worked in their print shop until retiring in 1983. The couple returned to the Winfield area. Mr. Hensley preceded her in death on June 23, 2011

Bonnie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eight and Forty. She had been involved with the Girl Scouts, Brownies and helped with the PTA. She enjoyed painting, sewing and bowling.

Fitzpatrick and wife Laura, Angela Fitzpatrick-Hofford and husband Chris, Megan Thompson-Whiteley and husband Todd, Erin Thompson-Galaway, Amy Allard-VanKauwenberg and husband Craig, Mike Allard and wife Cathy, Brian Allard and wife Denise, Jay Allard and wife Laura, Chad Allard and wife Dana, and Mike Hatesohl and wife Shannon;
Her great-grandchildren: Violet, Brody and Peyton Allard, Dusty Fulk, Austin Fulk and wife Ashley, Cassie Coon-Bray and husband Jeremy, Zac Coon, Amancha Coon, Elizabeth Lapham, Grant Lapham, Nick Lapham, Jaden Mayfield, Avery Mayfield, Jessica Fitzpatrick, Erica Fitzpatrick, Vanessa Fitzpatrick, Sydney Whiteley, Robert VanKauwenberg, Jack VanKauwenberg, Brett Allard, Kylie Petrick and husband John, Chase Allard, Olive Allard, Molly Hatesohl and Grace Hatesohl.
Her great-great grandchildren: Zoey McNulty, Kashtin, Kaiden and Kensley Fulk, Dakota Allard and Dalton and Dallas Bray;
Her sisters: Retabess Ling of Iola, KS; and Patsy Krokstrom of Chanute, KS;
Several nieces and nephews and her beloved pet, Cody.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Floyd Mayfield, her daughter, Velma Coon; her son-in-law, Robert Allard, her grandchildren, Jason Barnhart, Chad Coon and Caleb Mayfield; and her siblings, Ione Snyder, Irma Mefford, Junior Northway and Wilbur Northway.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Wilmot Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, December 16, 2013 and the family will greet friends during that time.

A memorial has been established in Bonnie's name for the Wilmot Cemetery Maintenance Board. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
