BOBBY F. "BOB" SIMMONS, 79, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, April 5, 2009 at his home
Born on April 24, 1929 in Newkirk, Oklahoma, he was the son of Jesse & Florence (Gardner) Simmons. He was raised and received his education in Winfield.
He was united in marriage on November 16, 1947 to E.Louise Naw in Winfield where the couple made their home. Mr. Simmons had been employed for the Kansas Department of Transportation and a local flour mill. He began working at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita and retired as a radio dispatcher in 1984. Later, Bob began employment for Walmart in Winfield assembling bicycles and became known as "bicycle Bob" He was employed there at the time of his death.
He was a member of the First Church of God. His hobbies included working with turquoise and silver, woodcarving and playing the guitar.

His son: David L. Simmons and wife Virginia of Wichita, KS;
His brother: Vernie Simmons of Wellington, KS;
His sisters: Freda Fry of Texas, and Darlene Hiltzman of Oxford, KS;
His 2 grandchildren: Gabe Edmonds and Amelia Simmons; and
His 3 great-grandchildren: Alexiss, Cadence and Makayla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheryl Edmonds; his grandson, Heath Edmonds; 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 8, 2009. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., that evening.
A memorial in Bob's name has been established for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
